CHILD Cancer Fund Programs

There is no other organization in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia area that does what we do. Here are some of the programs and services we provide…

Child Life Specialist Position
Our core program funds the Child Life Specialist position at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care. Through play, learning and self-expression, children learn to minimize the stress of treatment. The advocate works with children and their families, helping them to cope with the often frightening treatment for childhood cancer.

Financial Assistance
A diagnosis of childhood cancer often means financial hardship for the families involved. Often a parent must leave employment for long periods to care for the child. Income drops off just when medical expenses and fears for the child’s well being escalate. We help them deal with expenses for housing, utility bills, food and other expenses that health insurance does not cover.  Social workers at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Specialty Care administer our Financial Assistance Program. Regardless of income level, families facing financial hardship can receive help.

Support Services
During treatment and afterwards, children and their families need many different types of care and support. Our programs and services offer families the emotional, educational, and practical support they need to make it through this challenging experience. We sponsor a family retreat weekend at Camp Boggy Creek every year. We also provide educational materials to families.
