About CCF
The Child Cancer Fund, Inc. (CCF) is a nonprofit organization established by Jacksonville parents whose children were receiving treatment for cancer in 1994. For 30 years, CCF has walked side-by-side with local families in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, helping them through the challenges of childhood cancer. We partner with Nemours Children’s Health and Wolfson Children’s Hospital to implement our programs and services.
PROGRAMS
Child Life Specialist
Our core program funds the Child Life Specialist position at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care. Through play, learning, and self-expression, children learn to minimize the stress of cancer treatment. The advocate works with children and their families, helping them to cope with the often frightening treatment for childhood cancer.
Financial Assistance
Often a parent must leave employment for long periods to care for their sick child. Income drops as medical expenses escalate. We help families with expenses for housing, utility bills, food, and other household expenses that health insurance does not cover. Administered through the social workers at Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville, Florida, our Financial Assistance Program helps families facing hardship, regardless of income level.
Support Services
During treatment and afterwards, children and their families need many different types of care and support. Our programs and services offer families the emotional, educational, and mental health support they need during this challenging experience. We also sponsor a medically-safe family retreat weekend at Camp Boggy Creek each year and provide educational materials to newly diagnosed families.
